U.S. Ambassador in Accident

Earl Anthony Wayne, the U.S. ambassador to Argentina was involved in a head on collision on Saturday after visiting Glacier Perito Moreno. The other car had a blow-out and the occupants were seriously injured. The Ambassador and his wife, it is said, were unhurt.

Calleri Is Beaten

Spain's Albert Montanes beat out third-seeded Agustin Calleri in a round-robin match a week after losing to him in Brazil. In 2006 Calleri was a semi-finalist and a runner-up in 2002 at the Copa Telmex games. Read further about other finishers.

Auto Industry Boosts Economy

The automobile industry led the economy boost in the industrial output increase of 6.1 percent over last January. Recoving from a four year recession, the industrial production is playing a big part in it's recovery.

Supporters Hurled Stones

Football violence ended a game on Saturday as the fans started throwing missles of stones and other objects across the fence at River supporters. Four years ago supporters were killed in a similar fan clash. This time familes were terrorised as well at the swimming pool and barbecue areas.

Chavez visits Venezuela on Trade Agreements

Argentina President Nestor Kirchner will meet with President Hugo Chavez during a trip to Venequela this week. During the meeting the leaders will sign trade agreements to help construct powdered milk plands and provide financial assistance.
